Community Health Assessment
In early 2016, the Southwest Health Collaborative began the process of conducting a community health assessment for our six county region in Southwest Idaho. The purpose was to describe social, health, economic and demographic conditions in the area. Quantitative data, from sources such as the CDC’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) and Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, was combined with qualitative input from community members throughout the region to form a robust assessment of the health of our communities. This assessment serves as a starting point for the development of strategies to leverage new and existing resources to enhance the lives of those in our communities.
